LAREDO, Texas  – Laredo’s most renowned soccer superstar and the Heat’s prodigal son was ruled eligible to play by the U.S. Soccer Federation on Saturday. With his comeback to the Heat, Laredo adds a potential double-digit goal scorer in Felix Garcia – the team’s all-time leading scorer (34 goals) and Texas high school 5A single-season goals record holder (70 goals in 2008).
Garcia, a first-generation Mexican American and a graduate of LBJ High School in Laredo, will begin his fifth season with the Heat (2007-08, nobita games 10-11) after a short stint with Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo. He has been cleared by the Premier Development League and USSF as an amateur to compete in all competitions.
Garcia looks to make his first appearance since his seven-goal 2011 in the Heat’s U.S. Open Cup second round match against the Miami-based Red Force on May 14 at the Texas A&M nobita games International Soccer Complex. The Heat will kick off their PDL season at the TAMIU Soccer Complex three days later against the Houston Dutch Lions.
Garcia’s rookie season with the Heat conquered all, as the Heat won the PDL national championship via his semifinal-winning goal over Fresno and his deciding penalty nobita games kick in the shootout against the Michigan Bucks; Laredo won the final 1-0 (4-3 pks).
The 6-foot-2 inch center striker scored nobita games a team-high 11 and 14 goals in 2008 and ’10, respectively, and featured with three goals in his international debut for the U.S. Under-20 National Team at the Copa Chivas nobita games tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2008.
The goal-seeking Garcia has also contributed with nine assists nobita games through 50 league games with Laredo and has been featured in work by national soccer writers Ives Galarcep of SoccerByIves.net and ESPNsoccernet, Zac Lee Rigg of Goal.com and Justin Rodriguez of ESPNsoccernet and  Times Herald-Record in Middletown, N.Y.
Joining Spaniard Miguel Fernandez (2 goals in 3 friendlies) and Heat veteran and former TAMIU Dustdevil Danny Garza, Garcia adds an immediate impact to one of the Heat’s shallowest position pools. Laredo may continue to add fireworks at the forward position.
The Heat and Red Force face off on May 14 at the TAMIU Soccer Complex at 8 p.m. The Heat will then kick off their PDL season on May 17 against the Houston nobita games Dutch Lions at the TAMIU Soccer nobita games Complex at 8 p.m.
